Hello world!
Greetings from coclarity and thank you for visiting.
Well its an interesting morning to start this blog (something I’ve been planning and putting on the long finger for too long). I’ve just taken part in PaddysValley, the self-organised delegation of Irish startup companies to Silicon Valley.
This is the first in a series of more detailed posts that I will write over the coming days and weeks. It will take me some time to get through all my notes while at the same time continuing to build coclarity.com.
The week was just amazing, and this is the first time I’ve had to catch a breath or thought. We met so many people and learned so much about the inner workings of Silicon Valley. All of the participants are walking around with a cheesy grin and the kind of dazed look you see, when people’s brains are really somewhere else, trying to process extreme information overload.
Many people were involved in setting up PaddysValley. James Corbett, Damien Mulley, and Conor O’Neill were the main organisers. They came up with the initial idea and did something about it. Enterprise Ireland and InterTradeIreland organised the pitch forum on Tuesday and pitch training before we left Ireland.
The wider group and others in Ireland setup visits to specific companies. We met coders, designers, CEOs, CTOs, VPs and VCs (and some of my heroes) from companies like Facebook, Google, Iona, Socialtext, Ning, Twitter, and Yahoo! I firmly believe the links we have forged and lessons we have learned this week, will result in the creation of a number of world class Irish businesses and products in the near future.
From a coclarity point of view we met a number of trusted advisors based here in the Bay Area and received excellent encouragement and advice. We met two potential customers who agreed to be part of the beta test programme.
Over the coming weeks I will add details on specific meetings.
Thank you for reading, and please come back soon.

I liked this very much “dazed look and cheesy grin” piece. I may have to steal it.
